UK Senior Product Designer @ 🎽

Tunic Pay
Tunic Pay

Product, Design

Posted on Oct 1, 2026

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer based in London to shape how Tunic Pay looks, feels and works, from the moment a bank customer is about to send money to a scammer to the screen where a fraud analyst decides what happens next. If you're excited about making complex, high-stakes information simple and trustworthy, and contributing to the battle against scams and financial crime, read on to learn more ⬇️

About the role 🎭

You'll work closely with founders, the product team and engineering to take Tunic's product and brand from early traction to something banks and their customers instantly trust. You'll design across our whole surface area, from customer-facing payment journeys to data-heavy tools for fraud teams, and help set the design foundations everything else is built on.

Customer Journeys

Design real-time interventions inside digital banking payment flows. These surface risk and trust signals at the right moment, balancing friction against protection, so we can break the spell on scams without getting in the way of genuine payments.

Fraud Team Tools

Design workflows for fraud analysts and investigators: case management, evidence handling and decision tools that help them work faster and more consistently. That includes turning the outputs of our investigation engine and AI agents into explainable, actionable interfaces. For example: how should an API's JSON response look to a bank employee with 90 seconds to make a call?

Design Foundations & Brand

Shape Tunic's visual identity, design principles and component patterns while they're still being established, across product, website and sales materials.

Enterprise Reality

Ship strong work within the constraints of tier-1 banks: compliance, accessibility, security and platform limitations. Bank customers may also be in the room as stakeholders.

Anything 🤷🏻‍♀️

This role will evolve quickly. Expect ambiguity, variety, and responsibility — the scope will likely change in six months.

About you 🤓

Here are some thoughts on who would be successful at the role. We know we won’t be able to assess these from your portfolio alone, but our interview process will be designed around them:

  • A Simplifier: You take messy, technical, high-stakes information and make it feel obvious. You have a strong bias towards removing things rather than adding them.
  • An Auto-didact: You may spend one day studying open banking payment rails and another learning how a fraud analyst triages an alert queue. You pick up new domains fast and turn what you learn into design decisions. You use AI tools in your workflow as a matter of course.
  • A Craftsperson who ships: You care about the small details that matter to users, and you also know when a rough version is the right call so the team can learn.
  • A Radical Owner: Whether it’s a pitch deck, the website or a case-management flow, you see these tasks as equally important and assume full ownership — and you orient towards “what is going to help this business & people move faster”.
  • A Structurer: You enjoy turning an open, ambiguous brief into something the team can act on. You structure your own work without waiting to be told.
  • The hard skills we’ll value

As we look at profiles, here’s what we’ll be scanning for:

  • Product design depth: 8+ years designing and shipping products, from rough wireframes to polished, production-ready UI. We care more about evidence of substantive work you've owned than about exact years or titles.
  • Data-rich interfaces: your portfolio shows clear user flows across mobile and desktop, including dashboards, internal tools or other information-dense products.
  • Tooling fluency: you're fluent in Figma (or equivalent) and move efficiently between exploration, prototyping and handoff.
  • Entrepreneurial energy: you have worked at smaller companies or standalone initiatives, and you're happy to work beyond a narrow product-design remit, particularly on brand.
  • Domain & technical exposure: not required, but experience in fintech, banking, payments or fraud is preferred, as is some familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS.
  • Not got 100% of qualifications? Research shows that women and under-represented minorities are less likely to apply for a role if they do not have 100% of the requirements. We’re paying attention to this, so please feel free to apply regardless (<2mins) or send us a note on info@tunicpay.com if you’d like to discuss if there’s a fit.

    About Tunic Pay 🎽

Tunic Pay is building the Payment Context Protocol for all money movement — an intelligence layer that runs a real-time investigation on a payment, giving banks (and their customers) rich, explainable context on who they’re paying and why, so scams can be stopped and genuine payments can flow.

At the core is an investigation engine that:

  • Classifies the payment and plans the next best questions/steps,
  • Runs a live, multi-source investigation across public, proprietary, and shared data — often unstructured, messy, and not available via clean APIs,
  • Returns risk signals and the right intervention — either breaking the spell for high-risk cases or releasing genuine payments faster while reducing operational burden.
  • This intelligence is delivered dynamically across the payment journey — embedded directly in digital banking flows, used by fraud agents, or triggered post-alert — enabling banks to intervene at the right moment, with the right message, for the right customer.

Our protocol is increasingly powered by specialised AI agents that optimise customer interactions, drive investigations efficiently, and support faster, more consistent decision-making — reducing false positives, handling time, and repeat customer contact.

As our intelligence compounds, our ambition is scale: to overlay the Payment Context Protocol on as many payments as possible — 3.6 trillion payments annually — and make trusted, seamless transactions the default.

Okay nice in theory but what about results…

We’re early and moving fast. Tunic Pay is already working with some of the largest banks in the UK, with deployments expanding globally and delivering measurable reductions in scam losses and fraud operations workload.

We have an incredible team of cyber/fintech/AI veterans (backgrounds at Cloudflare, Elliptic, Monzo, Palantir, Quantexa, Wise etc), and were lucky to have our Series A pre-empted.

This is our opportunity to lose.

    🍃 Our values

    Designer (12).jpeg

    Yes, and.

This business needs creativity – we value well-channelled positivity (and the discomfort of ideation!) above intellectual scepticism.

    Designer (15).jpeg

Change, and speed, is the only constant.

We prize flexibility and velocity. We don’t overpromise on a single strategy or career path. Nor do we value effort (sorry!). Instead, we are focused on outcomes + efficiency⚡

    Memorable design.png

    Straight-shooters.

We tell it like it is. To our customers, our investors, ourselves. There is no room for ethical shortcuts, and we’re taking the decades-long view.

    Designer (8).jpeg

    Pranksters, not fraudsters.

We’re serious about our work, but not about ourselves. We delight in bringing a little troll spirit.

    Work dynamics

  • In person: 3+ days a week jamming together in our London office (Holborn). Fridays in particular together for team lunch & weekly reflections. Expect occasional time with bank customers for research and usability sessions.
  • Visa sponsorship: Yes!
  • Benefits: Bupa health insurance, Pension, Enjoy Benefits
  • Last but not least, the interview process ⏳

We are seeking to make our interview as experiential as possible in order for both sides to get the most signal on what it would be like to work together.

  • Initial application (<2 mins): Submit your LinkedIn/ CV and a portfolio link in the application link below (we don’t believe in cover letters or unnecessary work here!)
  • Mutual screening call (25mins): A call with Aida, Great or one of the cofounders. We'll cover your motivations, background, and what you're looking for - this is as much for you as it is for us!
  • Portfolio walkthrough (45 mins): Take us through one or two projects you're proud of: the problem, your process, the trade-offs and what shipped.
  • Virtual whiteboarding session (30 mins): A call with a member of the product team. No prep needed; we'll work through a real Tunic design problem together on a shared whiteboard, just as we would day-to-day. We're looking for how you think, not what you already know.
  • In-person shadowing & design task (2-3hrs): You come into our office to meet the wider team, take on a scoped design problem and talk us through it, and gain an insight into Tunic’s day-to-day: the problem-solving, communication and fun (!).
  • References and offer: Ideally over dinner!
  • Compensation will vary based on experience and include equity (we will be using a standard methodology of determining total equity packages as 80% of one year’s salary)
