Nicky (co-founder) previously co-founded Nova Credit, helping immigrants access credit. We’ve served millions of immigrants, raised over $130M (GC, Index, KPCB), built a team of 100+ people across three continents. Before that it was Stanford MBA, Bain, international development, and Cambridge. 🇬🇷-🇬🇧 married to🇰🇷-🇺🇲, parent, intermittent reader/runner, smack talker.
Nico (co-founder) spent the last 4 years as CEO of Casai, LatAm’s largest short-term rental operator with almost 2k apartments in 🇲🇽 and 🇧🇷 and hosted >100k guests. Previously met Nicky as Nova Credit’s first biz hire right after the seed round. Started career @ BCG after studying at Yale 🐶 & Oxford. Born in 🇵🇭 & grew up in Memphis, TN, the birthplace of rock & roll 🎸.
Cyrus (Head of Engineering) has experience across a wide range of industries and has built large-scale systems in a variety of sensitive contexts from banking 🏦 to defence 🛡️. Has been working with Nicky and Nico since 2023. Ex-Palantir and Morgan Stanley, before that Imperial College. Statistically most likely to be found walking my dog 🐕 and climbing rocks 🧗♂️.

Scrappiness: You can autonomously drive value without the comforts of existing infrastructure, developer tooling, and so on.Mobile-first mindset: You not only have deep experience building native mobile apps, but you bring total design and performance obsession. You care about delightful user experiences including everything from battery life to caching to crash reporting and app store distribution.Experimentation: You are unafraid of shipping fast, running A/B tests, and improving constantly based on both quantitative feedback & intuition.Some hard skills we’d value
Languages: State-of-the-art mobile stacks (Kotlin / KMP / Swift). Where you’ve spent time on the backend, you have picked up modern languages & frameworks such as Java / Kotlin / Scala / Go / Python (we use Kotlin).Mobile performance & optimization: Strong understanding of optimizing mobile app performance, memory usage, battery efficiency, and smooth animations. You’re comfortable with ongoing testing & monitoring to continuously improve performance. A key consideration for Tunic Pay is that our front-end experiences remain accessible to customers who are vulnerable & under duress.API integrations: You know how to consume RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and WebSockets, handling real-time data efficiently.Security: You have experience handling sensitive data, implementing secure storage, authentication, and encryption, and protecting against common mobile security risks.Years of experience: 7 or more. We’re looking for professionals who can structure their own work and be a strong technical voice for the team while getting their hands dirty (we’re not overly strict on exact number of years!).Stage of experience: We value people who have worked in early stage companies and demonstrate fluency with ongoing speed: precision tradeoffs and iterativeness.Industry: Prior experience in fintech or banking is a plus, but experience handling sensitive data and critical customer journeys on mobile in any domain will get you off on the right foot.Not got 100% of qualifications?
