We’re looking for a Product Leader to join us at the ground floor of Tunic Pay. If you’re excited about systemic solutions for scams, experimenting with cutting-edge agentic infrastructure, and love/are-unperturbed-by the creative chaos of early stage companies, read on to learn more ⬇️

About the role 🎭

What you’ll work on:

  • Evolve our products and launch new ones that delight consumers, the fraud officers who interact with them, and the technology teams that integrate them. This includes building out our multi-agent, composable infrastructure and scaling out our data insights.
  • Adapt product / engineering / design processes appropriate to our size and goals. And then change them again every 3 months as we evolve! Collaborate closely across the org to maintain alignment and velocity.
  • Anchor our offerings in a longterm vision that you keep testing & iterating on.
  • Our stack today:

  • Backend: Python, Kotlin
  • Frontend: TypeScript, React
  • Infra: Cloud-native, event-driven services, async workflows
  • Data: SQL-first, correctness > dashboards
  • About you 🦄

Here are some thoughts on who would be successful in the role. We know we won’t be able to assess these from your CV, but our interview process will be designed around them:

  • Excellent product decisions: Yes, the hardest, most nebulous part of product management. We are looking for someone who consistently raises our product ambition & quality by making great decisions. Sometimes these decisions will be based on taste or instinct, other times on frameworks or data, others yet on market feedback or user empathy or obsessive dogfooding.
  • Killah Collaboration: You work productively with other stakeholders to surface the (aforementioned) product decisions and turn these into a reality. This could look like being a thought partner, challenging them, or simply knowing when to empower others. You know how to manage and organize teams for success, especially within a high agency fast-moving startup.
  • Some hard skills we’re looking for

  • Technologist & AI optimist: You are a peer to the most technical of systems engineers and understand what goes into building fault-tolerant, large-scale distributed systems. (Engineers who want to move into Product are * most * welcome!) You’ve gone beyond agentic PRD writing and Lovable mockups: you are leading eval-first product development, and token limits are a frequent cause of frustration for you.
  • Fintech aficionado: You have worked in our fintech industry before, and can instinctively see around corners and conceptualize the potential tradeoffs around friction / latency / resilience / model performance in the fraud prevention world.
  • Early stage: You have worked in a small & unstructured environment before (ideally a pre-Series C company or a new initiative with high risk in a bigger company). In practice, this means being comfortable in uncertainty and de-tangling complex customer problems and prioritising features to deliver customer value.
  • Years of experience: 8 or more. This is absolutely a leadership role, but we’re looking for someone who enjoys structuring & leading their own IC work while also thinking strategically. Building out a product team is not currently on the short-term cards!
  • Not got 100% of qualifications? Research shows that women and under-represented minorities are less likely to apply for a role if they do not have 100% of the requirements. We’re paying attention to this, so please feel free to apply regardless (<2mins) or send us a note on info@tunicpay.com if you’d like to discuss if there’s a fit.

    About Tunic Pay 🎽

Tunic Pay is building the Payment Context Protocol for all money movement—an intelligence layer that runs a real-time investigation on a payment, giving banks (and customers) rich context on the counterparty and situation so scams can be intercepted and genuine payments can flow.

At the core is an “investigation engine” that (1) classifies the payment and plans the next best questions/steps, (2) orchestrates a live, multi-source investigation (typically unstructured data that doesn’t live on clean APIs and has been enriched by fraud labels and feedback loops), and (3) returns risk scoring plus the right intervention—either to break the spell for high-risk cases or to reduce ops burden.

Our protocol is increasingly powered by specialized AI agents tasked with optimizing the consumer interaction, appropriately driving the investigation, and returning the right decision. Our approach to front-ends is highly modular /gottaCatchEmAll in order to power investigatory and experience flexibility, e.g., voice vs. chat or deterministic vs. not. And we need to deliver 24/7/365 uptime and security.

As our intelligence compounds, our ambition is scale: to overlay the Payment Context Protocol on as many payments as possible (3.6T payments annually) and make trusted, seamless transactions the default.

Okay nice in theory but what about results…

We are early & moving fast: we are working & have driven amazing results for some of the largest banks in the UK and increasingly globally🧤, we have an incredible team of cyber/fintech/AI veterans (backgrounds at Cloudflare, Elliptic, Monzo, Palantir, Quantexa, Wise etc), and were lucky to have our Series A pre-empted.

This is our opportunity to lose.

    Work dynamics

  • In person: 3+ days a week jamming together in our London office. Fridays in particular together for team lunch & weekly reflections.
  • Last but not least, the interview process ⏳

We are seeking to make our interview as experiential as possible in order for both sides to get the most signal on what it would be like to work together.

  • Initial application (<2 mins): Submit your LinkedIn (or CV) in the application link below (we don’t believe in cover letters or unnecessary work here!) 👇
  • Founder meet-and-greet (30 mins): Introductory call with one of the founders — get to know each other a little and do some open-ended problem-solving together.
  • PRD and discussion (1 hour): Develop short product requirements doc for a non-core Tunic Pay product. Discuss it together as a way of replicating how we work on uncertain new areas
  • On-site whiteboard (3 hours): Deep dive with Cyrus, Nicky, and Nico to work through thinking on collaboration and product experiments — this is as much for you as it is for us!
  • References and offer: Ideally over dinner!
