Launched in 2019, Taptap is tapping into a transformative shift in global finance: from banks to phones. While this has affected wealthier countries as well, it has been nothing short of a revolution for the emerging markets where the overwhelming majority of population had been unable to access digital finance previously. Taptap Send allows immigrants to send money home instantly and with no fee*, saving money in the process. With a formal market size of >700B alone, we’ve got a lot more saving to do for our users. Role
As South Asia Business Development Manager, your role will be to develop partnerships, strengthen existing relationships and scale Taptap Send’s business across South Asia. You will be responsible for building, managing and enhancing existing partner relationships, and finding pathways for unlocking the best fx sourcing and commercials. You will travel extensively to your markets, meeting partners, and understanding local products, payouts and the country switch while collaborating closely with key external stakeholders such as policy makers, regulatory bodies, ecosystem partners and Financial institutions.
You will have experience in building relationships, executing partnerships and scaling a business across South Asia. You will be excited to manage every aspect of key markets and thrive in operating solo in unfamiliar environments and figuring out what works and doesn’t. You will have an “own it” mindset, while equally obsessed with the experience of individual users. You enjoy challenges, you love travel and adventure, and you’re a relentless relationship builder and maintainer. You are enthusiastic about working in the fast-paced environment of a rapidly growing startup.
Responsibilities
Own the relationship with new and existing partners in South Asian markets of Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and others
Oversee the TTS FX sourcing, commercial and partnership strategy in the markets across the region
Identify the best partners and stakeholders in the market and directly build relationships with them
Be the face of Taptap Send to new and existing partners, negotiating great deals and overseeing the process from the very first meeting
Understand everything that’s going on in your markets through tracking, analysis, and reporting of key metrics
Stay on top of key macro indicators, socio-economic news and updates, and up to date on the regulatory / market dynamics through a team of advisors and a country chair
Work cross-functionally with Growth, Product, Ops, and Engineering teams to ensure Taptap Send has the best product offering in the market
Work with other members of the Growth team to develop and share best practices
Requirements
7+ years of experience in a high-performing, fast-paced environment and within the South Asia region
Partnerships experience within Fintech or Payments highly preferred
Strong negotiation skills
Enthusiasm for travel
Fluent in English - Hindi and Bengali a plus
