Who we are

M2P Fintech is a leading banking technology platform, established in 2014 and headquartered in Chennai, with a footprint across 30+ countries in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East & Africa, and Oceania. We build the technology that powers banks, NBFCs, and online businesses worldwide — spanning payments, lending, and banking solutions, including BNPL, credit cards, prepaid cards, and more. We're driven by our core values as we learn and grow together every day.

About the Role

M2P is hiring an on-site Product Owner and subject matter expert for International Banking and Payments, within our Banking business line.

You'll own our product offerings across domestic and cross-border payment rails, trade and remittance flows, and multi-currency (MCY) products and ledger capabilities. That means keeping the product compliant, benchmarking with competition, maintaining the backlog, feeding into the roadmap, and working closely with Product leadership, Engineering, QA, and Program Management through the full SDLC. You'll also support early-adopter implementations in new and existing markets, and lend product expertise to presales conversations.

Given the role is focussed on local payment schemes, cross-border payments and international banking, regulatory and compliance depth is central to this role.

What You’ll do in this Role

Own the Roadmap

● Own the product backlog and roadmap for cross-border payments and multi-currency (MCY) products and ledger capabilities, prioritizing features against business objectives and data-driven success metrics.

● Work with partners and clients to gather requirements and translate them into business requirement documents, epics, and user stories.

● Define solution approaches for new developments — partnering with engineering on technical feasibility, API design, and system architecture.

● Proactively propose enhancements based on market needs, regulatory changes, and client feedback. Judgment to translate evolving regulations and compliance requirements into product requirements before it becomes a compliance gap.

● Manage, triage and prioritise backlog items, working closely with internal and external Compliance teams amongst others.

● Partner with Product leadership, engineering, and other stakeholders to fold market and client needs into the backlog and release plans.

Engage Clients and Resolve Issues

● Work directly with clients and partners to understand requirements, assess market and client fit, and advise on product capabilities. Validate client change requests against the roadmap and product architecture.

● Resolve client issues around payment processing, cross-border transactions, settlements, FX, multi-currency accounting, and AML/sanctions-screening interfaces — efficiently and with a focus on client satisfaction.

● Run workshops and requirement-gathering sessions with client business, operations, compliance and IT teams.

Support Implementation

● Provide product support during banking ledger & payments implementations, and coordinate go-live for payment rails, correspondent banking, and multi-currency product and ledger rollouts — including scheme certification, sanctions-screening configuration, and regulatory sign-off requirements where applicable.

Drive Reporting and Analytics

● Define reporting requirements for payments and international banking — including AML/CFT transaction-monitoring outputs, suspicious transaction/activity reports (STR/SAR), and net open position (NOP)/FX-exposure reporting, alongside other regulatory and financial reporting — for execution by the MIS teams.

● Oversee accurate data mapping for payment, FX, sanctions/AML, and multi-currency position reporting, ensuring lineage and auditability for regulator and auditor review.

● Work with engineering and Compliance, other product teams, to improve screening, monitoring, and analytics tooling and capabilities.

Track Compliance and Industry Trends

● Monitor developments in local and regional payment schemes, ISO 20022 migration and SWIFT MT→MX cutover timelines, SWIFT messaging standards (including GPI, Universal Confirmations, and the Customer Security Programme (CSP) across our markets.

● Track AML/CFT and sanctions regimes across our markets - OFAC, UN, EU, and local sanctions lists; FATF Travel Rule (Reco 16) requirements for originator/beneficiary information on cross-border transfers; correspondent banking due-diligence expectations; and market-specific payment schemes regulations.

● Monitor FX control and capital-account regulations, central bank net open position (NOP) reporting requirements, and cross-border remittance transparency rules (e.g., FX-rate and fee disclosure mandates).

● Track data-protection and cross-border data-transfer requirements (GDPR and equivalent local data-privacy regimes) as they affect payment and customer data handling.

● Ensure products and processes meet relevant regulations and industry standards, escalating gaps to Compliance/ Infosec/ Legal proactively.

Document and Train

● Maintain product documentation — specifications, user guides, and training materials.

● Run training sessions to help internal customer facing teams, for them to support clients effectively.

What We’re Looking for

● 8–12 years of relevant experience in business analysis, product ownership, or hands-on product management at a banking or payments technology company — and currently working in one of these roles. Candidates who fall slightly short on product experience may still be considered if they bring strong hands-on implementation and consulting experience (solution design and software delivery roles, Not project management).

● Strong functional expertise in payments (domestic schemes across markets, cross-border), international banking, trade and remittances, multi-currency products, and multi-currency ledger handling — including correspondent banking relationships, nostro/vostro reconciliation, and cross-currency settlement handling.

● Working knowledge of payment messaging standards and rails — ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX and GPI, RTGS variants, and regional real-time payment schemes across APAC/MEA — along with local clearing systems and SWIFT Customer Security Programme (CSP) requirements (as applicable to the product).

● Hands-on expertise in MCY ledger mechanics — MCY chart of accounts design (base, transaction, and functional currency), realized and unrealized FX gain/loss calculation and booking, period-end revaluation of open currency positions, and multi-currency trial balance/consolidation into a single reporting currency.

● Working knowledge of FX and treasury mechanics — exchange rate management, open FX position management, net open position (NOP) reporting, and forward contracts.

● Hands-on experience with enterprise payment hubs from core banking platforms (e.g., Finacle, Flexcube, T24, Finastra) or payments platforms (e.g., Fundtech, ACI) or working in payments & transaction banking software products areas in International or Regional banks (Citi, HSBC, JP Morgan, BOA….)

● Strong working knowledge of AML/CFT and sanctions compliance (OFAC, UN, EU, regional equivalents), PEP screening, STR/ SAR reporting workflows; correspondent banking due-diligence frameworks governing cross-border wire and remittance flows and FX controls/ capital-account regulations.

● Awareness of data-privacy and cross-border data-transfer requirements (e.g., GDPR and equivalent local regimes) as they apply to payment and customer data flows.

● Strong documentation and communication skills, with a track record of working across cross-functional teams.

● Working knowledge of APIs, functional and system architecture, to collaborate effectively with engineering on technical feasibility and solution design.

● Proficiency with Agile collaboration and backlog tools such as JIRA, Github and Confluence (or equivalent).

Nice-to-Haves

● End-to-end experience as a functional consultant on one or two payments and multi-currency ledger implementations.

● Experience with competitive and market analysis to benchmark product positioning.

● Working knowledge of SQL or data analysis tools to support product and prioritization decisions.

● Certification in business analysis (CBAP, CCBA) or payments (CTP).

● Experience working with global clients, particularly in APAC and MEA.

● Experience engaging directly with regulators, auditors, or scheme compliance bodies (e.g., SWIFT, card/payment scheme certification teams) on product compliance matters.
