ABOUT THE ROLE
Based out of Lendable’s office in South Africa, we are looking for an individual to join Lendable’s investment team to provide senior level leadership as we continue to scale our portfolio in Asia. You are a seasoned private credit investor with a track record of closing high-quality transactions. You must be passionate about fintech, private credit, and financial inclusion.
Responsibilities:
- Lead regional business development and origination activities, developing and executing a high-quality pipeline of investment opportunities while building long-term relationships with founders, C-suite executives, investors, and ecosystem partners to generate proprietary deal flow.Lead prioritization of deal flow and provide hands-on ownership in the winning of target transactions.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-suite executives, founders, shareholders, and strategic partners across Asia, acting as a senior commercial representative of the firm throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Evaluate interconnected commercial, financial, operational, legal, and regulatory risks across transactions, providing balanced recommendations and practical mitigation strategies to support sound investment decisions.
- Manage regional fintech investment team members. Assign responsibilities and coverage areas, oversee deal execution across the regional team, and provide ongoing feedback to support career development.
- Maintain accountability for achieving regional deal closing and deployment goals.
- Lead execution of transactions. Directly engage in transaction due diligence, structuring, development and presentation of investment committee materials, commercial oversight of legal documents, closing, and disbursing of transactions. Identify and provide guidance on risks, mitigants, and risk/reward trade-offs. Must have a willingness to engage with the details of a transaction.
- Work with urgency in moving transactions through a high-quality, high-touch deal execution process
- Represent the firm across the Asian region through regular travel to develop market relationships, originate investment opportunities, and strengthen the firm's presence within the fintech and financial services ecosystem.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in finance, including at least 5 years working in private credit or structured debt
- Extensive experience in structured credit, private credit, leveraged finance, specialty finance, or complex lending transactions gained within private credit funds, non-bank asset managers, investment firms, fintech lenders, or commercial/credit banking environments.
- Demonstrated experience structuring and executing bespoke financing solutions for complex asset-backed transactions. Ability to assess unique client circumstances and develop innovative risk mitigation strategies rather than relying solely on standardised credit frameworks.
- Strong commercial judgement and lateral thinking, with a track record of navigating highly complex transactions and balancing client needs with sound risk management principles.
- Must have a demonstrated skillset in learning new markets and building trusted relationships with founders, executive leadership teams, and C-suite stakeholders, with the credibility to influence strategic discussions and negotiate commercial outcomes.
- Southeast Asia and/or fintech experience is an advantage but not required.
