The Women in the Digital Economy Fund (WiDEF) is a $60M+ initiative that will identify, directly fund, and accelerate investment in proven solutions to close the gender digital divide – including women-led solutions, products, and tools – thereby improving women’s livelihoods, economic security, and resilience. Launched in March 2023, WiDEF’s founding partners include USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. WiDEF is managed by an industry-leading consortium comprised of the GSMA Foundation, CARE and the Global Digital Inclusion Partnership.
About the Role
As the Senior Data and Insights Manager, you will shape and deliver thought leaderships pieces on the gender digital divide in low- and middle-income countries. Bringing together qualitative and quantitative data and insights you will support WiDEF’s portfolio of awardees to address the digital gender divide. You will also draw out trends, key learnings and insights from across WiDEF’s portfolio of awardees to create best-in-class succinct case studies and briefs. Through this work you will identify important learnings on what works and generate actionable recommendations to influence key stakeholders.
About You
You take an evidence-based approach, drawing on a solid foundation of research and evaluation, as well as industry knowledge to produce thought leadership content.
You have excellent analytical skills, including the ability to generate frameworks and structured analysis and to draw creatively from a wide range of data sources to answer difficult and sometimes abstract questions.
You have experience of managing primary research projects in low- and middle-income countries, including developing research frameworks, methodologies and data collection tools. This includes a strong understanding of the specific considerations of researching women in low- and middle-income countries and prior experience of managing externally commissioned research projects from end-to-end.
You have a strong skill set in analysis and can use statistical packages to work with large quantitative data sets. You are familiar with approaches to analysing qualitative data.
You have experience of/genuine interest in driving digital inclusion and reducing the gender gaps in internet access and use in low- and middle-income countries including understanding the commercial and social benefits that are presented by doing this.
You are detail oriented and can thrive in a fast-paced environment. You are highly motivated, able to work independently with an entrepreneurial, creative and can-do spirit.
You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. You write succinctly, drawing out the most relevant points for different audiences to ensure we are adding value. You present persuasively with a clear purpose and key messages.
You have first rate project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time as well as strong stakeholder management experience.
You will work collaboratively by default and have worked in diverse teams and across countries and cultures.
