About the Team
We are a team of technical experts that assists the mobile industry in is generational and digital transformation. This involves understanding the industry drivers, collaborating with; operators, vendors and other actors to provide technical recommendations to specify for wider industry adoption. Our goal is to increase interoperability to accelerate scale adoption of technology principles and practices, thus providing a sustainable economic roadmap for mobile technology.
Our current challenges include networks generational change to 5G, virtualisation of network functions and the impacts of digital transitions to IT&T infrastructure and software models.
About the Role
You will support the GSMA leadership team (CxOs and Senior Directors) to provide the business enterprise experience to seed demand utilising an innovative business model currently known as Advanced Market Commitment (AMC).
The GSMA is embarking on an ambitious programme to make available to enterprises, the tremendous untapped and under-utilised capabilities of advanced mobile networks. We are recruiting a small team which will build on the Open Gateway initiative - where dozens of mobile operators have already made available their Application Protocol Interfaces (APIs). This will enable enterprises and developers to gain valuable access to network functions which will allow them to develop ground-breaking applications, thereby bringing new sources of value as well as improved customer experience.
You will assist the Open Gateway Lead to engage with industry vertical sectors, to understand their requirements, identify horizontal or vertical technical needs across multiple sector partners, seek commitment from the sectors partners in alignment of requirements and demand for technology enhancements to Mobile and Fixed networks. Key Responsibilities
1. Engagement of an Industry Sector C’ Level & Senior Management Executives.
2. Convene a number of sector companies to discuss align requirements in short or long-term telecommunications need to meet a common pain point of the sector, whether locally, regionally or globally.
3. Create a business model based on advanced commitment for demand requirements.
4. Translate the buyer demand requirements into specification for the Telco industry to supply to.
5. Communicate roadmap for supply of demand requirements from Mobile and Fixed networks.
About You
Industry Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of the Mobility or eCommerce or FinTech landscape to identify potential areas for collaboration in cost reduction and productivity enhancement.
Thought leader: Able to work independently with industry leaders to bring to life specific use-cases and the potential value they could unlock for their businesses within specific industry verticals.
Partnership Development: Cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including industry leaders, government agencies, trade associations, and other relevant organizations, to promote collaboration and drive shared initiatives.
Collaboration Facilitation: Facilitate collaborative discussions and workshops among participating companies to identify common challenges, develop innovative solutions, and establish actionable strategies for cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Project Management: Lead cross-functional teams comprised of representatives from collaborating companies to execute joint projects and initiatives aimed at achieving mutual objectives in cost reduction and productivity enhancement.
Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate the effectiveness of collaborative efforts, utilising key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and identify areas for optimisation.
Co-ordinating and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in collaborative initiatives, providing regular updates, reports, and presentations on project status, milestones, and outcomes.
Communication and marketing: ability to work with external communications/PR teams to translate technical capabilities into powerful market-facing narratives capable of driving interest from new players.
Market Expansion: Identify opportunities for expanding collaborative efforts beyond the initial scope, including potential partnerships with additional companies or entry into new markets within the sector.
Capabilities:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Extensive experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or collaborative initiatives within the [specific industry sector, delete as appropriate; Mobility or eCommerce or FinTech].
Proven track record of successfully driving collaborative projects or initiatives aimed at achieving cost reduction and productivity improvement goals.
Proven ability to work independently. Will be comfortable acting as an individual contributor and to operate at every level internally and externally.
Strong commercial experience with the ability to understand commercial motivations of disparate organizations, and to bring multiple parties together around a common framework.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of an organization.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen understanding of market dynamics and industry trends.
Demonstrated project management expertise, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results within established timelines and budgets.
Basic knowledge of telecommunications technology.
Ability to travel to different markets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
