What the hiring manager says
“This is a great opportunity for an IT Business Partner to have genuine impact on IT strategy and delivery across the GSMA. This role goes beyond traditional project coordination — it is about shaping demand, influencing outcomes, and ensuring technology investments deliver real value to the organisation.
As we accelerate key strategic initiatives and modernise our digital and data landscape, you will play a critical role in connecting business ambition with IT capability. I’m looking for someone who is detail‑driven, an excellent communicator, naturally curious, and confident operating at both strategic and delivery levels — with a real flair for innovation and continuous improvement.”
David Cook, Head of IT Business Engagement
About the Team
The IT Business Engagement team sits at the heart of GSMA’s technology strategy, acting as a trusted bridge between the organisation and IT. The team works closely with senior stakeholders across GSMA to shape demand, prioritise investment, and ensure technology solutions are aligned to business outcomes.
As the team evolves, our focus is increasingly on strategic partnership, portfolio thinking, and enabling digital and data‑led transformation. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high‑performing team that values curiosity, clarity, and delivery — and you’ll be encouraged to influence how IT works with the wider organisation.
About the role
As an IT Business Partner, you will be the primary technology interface for designated business areas, owning the end‑to‑end relationship from idea through to delivery and value realisation. You will work closely with business leaders to understand their objectives, translate those into clear IT demand, and partner with IT teams and suppliers to deliver effective, sustainable solutions.
You will be accountable for shaping business cases, defining scope and success measures, managing delivery timelines and budgets, and ensuring risks and dependencies are actively managed. Success in this role means enabling the business to make informed decisions, navigate the IT landscape with confidence, and realise tangible benefits from technology investment.
In your first year, you will establish yourself as a trusted advisor to your stakeholders, embed yourself in key strategic initiatives, and help mature how demand, prioritisation, and value tracking are handled across IT Business Engagement.
About You
You are a curious and pragmatic problem‑solver who enjoys working at the intersection of business and technology. You are comfortable operating with ambiguity, bringing structure and clarity to complex requirements, and balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery.
You’ll build strong relationships through clear communication, empathy, and credibility, and you will be confident challenging assumptions to drive better outcomes. You are motivated by impact, enjoy collaborating across diverse teams and cultures, and naturally take ownership for seeing things through.
You’ll be able to apply your experience to:
Shape and manage IT demand, timelines, and milestones in complex environments
Deliver technical, digital, and data‑driven solutions that support organisational transformation
Navigate and influence a modern application landscape to enable high‑performing teams
Partner effectively with internal teams and global vendors to achieve shared outcomes
Bring an “over‑the‑horizon” mindset, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement
Technical and domain capability
Demonstrable experience delivering IT solutions across cloud‑based platforms and enterprise applications
Strong working knowledge of tools such as Salesforce (or equivalent CRM), Workday, Microsoft 365, Asana, or similar platforms
Experience contributing to digital transformation and data‑enabled initiatives
Exposure to, or understanding of, the mobile and telecommunications industry is advantageous

Stakeholder Management – building trusted relationships and balancing competing priorities
