Rosie Leary, Senior Marketing Manager, Mobile for Development
About the team
GSMA Mobile for Development (M4D) is a dedicated global team within the GSMA that operates at the intersection of the mobile ecosystem and the development sector. Bringing together mobile operators, tech innovators, governments and the development community, M4D identifies opportunities and delivers digital innovations with socio-economic impact in underserved markets. Through its research and insights platform, in-market expertise and community of partners, M4D advances digital and financial inclusion, gender equality, climate and humanitarian action, agriculture and utility service provision, helping to empower underserved populations at scale.
This role sits within the M4D Marketing team, an eight-person team working across a broad portfolio of programmes and initiatives. As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to impactful work across digital inclusion, financial inclusion and other areas of international development, while developing your marketing skills across multiple channels, platforms and formats.
About the role
As Marketing Specialist, you will support the delivery of marketing activities across several Mobile for Development programmes, helping to promote data and insights, MNO partnerships and advocacy initiatives to global audiences. You will work closely with Senior Marketing Managers, Marketing Managers and wider programme teams to coordinate and deliver a broad range of marketing outputs across web, email, social media and events.
In this role, you will contribute to the creation, publication and promotion of content including blogs, reports, newsletters, social media assets and event communications. You will also support the coordination of webinars, assist with supplier management and help monitor the performance of marketing activities through reporting and analytics.
Success in this role will come from your ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, maintain strong attention to detail and collaborate confidently with colleagues across different teams and programmes. You will play an important role in ensuring marketing activities are delivered accurately, efficiently and to a high standard, while helping teams communicate complex topics in engaging and accessible ways.
The role forms part of the wider M4D Marketing team and supports work across the Connected Society, Connected Women, Mobile Money and Central Insights Unit (CIU) programmes, as well as our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) work. This will give you exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects and the opportunity to work on marketing activities connected to digital inclusion, financial inclusion and other international development topics.
You will be expected to build strong working relationships across programme and marketing teams, take ownership of day-to-day marketing deliverables and become a trusted contributor across multiple projects and campaigns. You will also have the opportunity to develop your technical marketing skills across platforms including WordPress, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, social media and analytics tools, while gaining experience working within a global organisation and international development-focused environment.
About you
You will bring demonstrable experience supporting marketing activities across digital channels, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You will be confident communicating with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders across different teams and cultures, helping to build strong working relationships and ensure projects run smoothly.
You will need strong written English skills and attention to detail to support the publication and promotion of high-quality content across web, email and social media channels. You should also be comfortable creating and adapting visual and written content for different audiences and platforms.
To succeed in the role, you will need to be organised, adaptable and proactive, with the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of work. While previous experience in international development is not required, an interest in digital inclusion, financial inclusion and social impact will help you engage with the subject matter and wider goals of the team.
Experience using marketing and content platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, WordPress, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Google Analytics or similar systems would be beneficial. Experience working with external suppliers would also be advantageous.
This role offers the opportunity to further develop your skills across digital marketing, content production, campaign coordination and analytics while working across a broad and meaningful portfolio of projects within a globally recognised organisation.
