The Asia Pacific regional team includes policy, technology, marketing and Mobile 4 Development (M4D) spread across the region but mostly concentrated between office in Delhi and in Hong Kong.
The policy team has mix of experiences and skills from government, MNO and industry; the team is supported by the multi-function global team of experts based in London.
The policy team moderates and prioritizes the execution of GSMA policy programs alongside member national and regional issues to support the mission to advance policy and regulation for a sustainable and innovative mobile sector. Maintaining an active community of member policy and regulatory leadership, the team engages with policymakers and regulators to advance policy discourse, contribute to market research, and conveys the perspectives of the mobile industry across the range of issues that surround the digital economy and society.
Continuously developing and evolving relationships with government and policy stakeholders, the team also provides primary insight on regional policy priorities to the global team.
About the Role
The Senior Policy Manager will report into the Policy Director, APAC which is part of the Asia Pacific Regional team.
The Senior Policy Manager will bring expertise in the telecommunications, digital economy and internet policy issues. The role requires the ability to work on complex regulatory issues that may be of varying time durations, in a wide variety of circumstances and to consistently deliver high-quality work under often time constraints.
The Senior Policy Manager will actively engage with GSMA’s members, policymakers, regulators, international institutions and other third parties to advance policy positions and influence policy development globally.
As a senior policy team member you will prepare GSMA’s response to public consultations on mobile policy areas in South East Asia. The role will involve engaging with different GSMA’s programmes centrally and managing cross-functional teams to ensure that the GSMA’s role has as much of an impact as possible in the country.
Contributing to the development and delivery of policy workshops, roundtables and seminars at GSMA hosted events such as MWC Barcelona is key component of the role.
About You
- You will have established relationships with mobile industry players and/or ICT policy makers in South East Asia
- You will have a track record in delivering results when working with multiple stakeholders.
- You will have experience and understanding of the ICT regulatory landscape across South East Asia
- You will have the ability to work co-operatively and flexibly with stakeholders and facilitate a collaborative approach
- You will have proven experience and comfort with working in matrix organisations
- You will have experience writing and delivering impactful presentations to senior stakeholders
- You will have held a senior policy position within a MNO or the wider mobile ecosystem
