About GSMA Membership
There are several types of GSMA membership, which are available on an annual basis, subject to certain criteria and, in terms of fees, tiered based on revenue:
1. Operator Membership, for mobile operators, over 650 of which are currently GSMA members
2. Rapporteur Membership, for Mobile Virtual Network Operators and similar companies
3. Industry Membership, for commercial entities operating within and alongside the mobile industry
4. Sector Membership, for commercial entities requiring more limited access to specific benefits

Some of the benefits of membership include participation in GSMA working groups, access to GSMA permanent reference documents, database access e.g. in relation to roaming and industry contacts, summits and forums for best practise and knowledge sharing, and global networking.
What the hiring manager says
“This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a skilled B2B new business sales manager with mobile industry and/or membership experience to lead and deliver on the planned business development targets for GSMA Sector Membership, focusing on specific vertical sectors. The role is based in London but has global responsibility. It is a hands-on role that includes close collaboration with adjacent teams in Technology and Marketing. Some travel may be required, not least because the GSMA’s industry events are valuable lead generation and member engagement opportunities.”
Kate Walsh, Business Development Director, Membership
About the Role
The Membership Sales Manager (Vertical Sectors) role is primarily concerned with growing sustainable membership revenue in the target sectors of fintech and manufacturing.
New Business Sales Targets: Ownership of and responsibility for the achievement of annual new business membership sales targets in the specified verticals.
Conversion Sales: Achievement of membership conversion targets relating to companies associated with the GSMA in particular areas, who are not yet members.
Member-Led Approach: Articulating membership benefits from a customer needs perspective, i.e. selling value and providing member feedback to inform refinement and evolution of the membership proposition.
Onboarding: New members will need to be carefully onboarded working in close collaboration with the Membership Operations Team, the aim being for the GSMA to be seen as a trusted strategic partner.
Tracking and Reporting: Responsibility for tracking and reporting against an agreed roadmap in terms of sales, processes and actions.
Cross-Team Matters and Projects: Certain matters require the whole of the membership team to work together to develop and implement resolutions – examples include management re global sanctions rules that may apply from time to time, and the ongoing development of the industry extranet “Member Gateway”.
Teamwork: Working collaboratively with the Membership team, the marketing and technology teams, as well as the wider GSMA organisation, in order to deliver on the Vertical Sectors sales objectives, strategy and targets.
