About the Team
The GSMA founded the AI for Impact (AI4I) initiative in 2017, to accelerate and commercially scale AI for the benefit of industry and society, whilst protecting privacy and adopting ethical practices. The initiative is delivered in close collaboration with AI experts from 29 mobile operators accounting for over 2 billion connections in 100+ countries, plus a network of global thought leaders from UN agencies, governments, international organisations, academia and private sector.
Since the outset of the initiative, privacy and ethical principles have been at the heart of its approach. We hav moved well beyond principles, to providing guidance on how companies can implement this in practice across their organisation. This culminated in the launch of the GSMA Responsible AI Maturity Roadmap (RAI Roadmap) in September 2024, which is currently already adopted by over 20 mobile operator groups around the world.
About the Role
Your mission will be to help progress the industry’s maturity and impact in responsible AI by design, by continuing to expand the number of organisations adopting the RAI Roadmap, providing guidance during its implementation and monitoring progress.
Furthermore, you will ensure the RAI Roadmap remains at the forefront globally, by reflecting latest insights, global developments and learnings into the methodology and guidance materials.
You will work closely with the mobile industry experts participating in the GSMA Responsible AI sub-group, to shape the objectives, define plans and deliver the various activities.
You will support mobile operators in adopting Responsible AI practices and guide them on implementing the GSMA Responsible AI Maturity Roadmap, through bilateral meetings, workshops and other events.
You will research and stay informed on latest developments and best practices on Responsible AI globally, through desk research, interviews and workshops. You will capture and present your insights in compelling formats.
You will also explore the potential role of 3rd party stakeholders and verticals in realising the objectives, and where relevant, define and implement a corresponding strategic engagement plan.
Through the above work, you will further identify any gaps or new topics to be addressed by and with the sub-group. You will lead the co-creation, facilitate knowledge sharing and further strengthen and expand best practices, recommendations and industry spotlights.
You will also collaborate closely with the wider External Affairs team and other GSMA colleagues from across Advocacy, Technology and Regional offices, to obtain their expertise and input, create relevant content and jointly deliver industry and wider stakeholder engagement as relevant. This includes experts in Consumer Policy, Privacy, Security.
