Job duties – Play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments aligned with Flourish Ventures’ strategy. The position requires the ability to identify high-quality opportunities, lead diligence processes, and collaborate closely with senior team members to close deals with minimal oversight. The role will also contribute to developing and refining Flourish’s investment thesis, strengthening our ecosystem engagement, and supporting portfolio companies at both the strategic and board levels. The Investment Principal will represent Flourish externally and play an active role in amplifying the firm’s presence and partnerships across fintech and venture networks. Key responsibilities include: Sourcing and screening new U.S. investment opportunities, including cross-border fintech solutions serving or scaling into emerging markets (e.g., Africa, Asia, or Latin America). Conducting due diligence on prospective investments -- including business plan evaluation, financial modeling, and preparation of investment memoranda and transaction documentation. Lead select deals independently. Supporting portfolio companies through strategic engagement across a broad spectrum of needs. Building and maintaining relationships across the fintech ecosystem, deepening Flourish’s network, and engaging in and curating high-impact events, workshops, and convenings. Advancing ecosystem initiatives through creative engagements with entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and policymakers. Collaborating internally to advance Flourish’s investment strategy, contribute to firmwide initiatives, and support cross-team projects as needed. Option for hybrid work schedule as approved by manager. 15% domestic and international travel.

Education and Experience required – Master of Business Administration and 3 years of experience in
venture capital in financial services.

Background – fintech investments with full diligence, negotiation, and closing responsibilities. 3 years of experience developing and interpreting financial models for early-stage fintechs and technology startups, with a sharp understanding of key business drivers and sensitivity analyses, including building at least 5 financial models that informed capital allocation decisions. 3 years leading comprehensive venture due diligence processes (e.g., market research, customer analysis, competitive mapping, legal and regulatory review, and valuation assessment), including at least 5 formal investment recommendations or reports that informed capital allocation decisions. 3 years of experience tracking and analyzing trends across fintech subsectors (digital banking, payments, credit infrastructure, regtech, or AI in finance), and translating insights into investment theses, strategy recommendations, or thought-leadership outputs (e.g., blogs, presentations, or panels). A robust network of at least 20 verified U.S. founders, investors, or ecosystem partners in the fintech sector, cultivated through direct investment or professional engagement, and the ability to leverage this network for sourcing, founder introductions, and co-investment opportunities. 2 years of experience operating, investing, or advising in emerging markets (e.g., Africa, Asia, or Latin America), including completion of at least one cross-border transaction in payments, remittances, or digital financial infrastructure that required evaluating compliance, FX, and integration risks across jurisdictions. 2 years of experience evaluating AI- or ML-driven financial technology solutions, with the ability to assess model architecture, technical feasibility, scalability, and business implications for investment decision-making. 2 years of experience serving as a board observer or advisor to early-stage fintech or technology companies, contributing to strategy, governance, or performance initiatives. 2 years of experience working on international investment teams, collaborating across multiple time zones and geographies, and distilling technical, financial, and strategic insights into reports and presentations for investment committees and stakeholders.
