Every World Bank-financed project depends on systems that track how money is spent, how risk is managed, and how communities are protected. ITSFD builds those systems—this internship is a chance to work on them directly. Background/Organizational Context The World Bank Group (WBG) finances development projects across the globe through three distinct institutions, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association (IBRD/IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). The Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidency of the World Bank Group delivers a wide portfolio of technology products and services that enable the WBG's development mission. Within ITS, the Fiduciary Operations unit (ITSFD) is responsible for digital solutions that support Procurement, Financial Management, and Environmental and Social Safeguards across World Bank operations. About the Team: Financial Management The Financial Management team sits within ITS Fiduciary Operations (ITSFD), the unit responsible for providing digital Procurement, Financial Management, and Safeguards tools that support Bank operations. The Financial Management team builds and maintains the digital systems that help World Bank staff and borrowers ensure compliance with financial audits and fiduciary requirements across Bank-financed projects. Interns will learn how digital tools support fiduciary compliance and financial oversight across the project lifecycle, working alongside experienced fiduciary and product specialists. They'll build practical skills in requirements analysis, applied AI/ML, or data engineering and reporting, depending on their track. Duties and Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise data platforms and pipelines using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric services. Strong hands-on experience with SQL, ETL/ELT design, data transformation, and orchestration frameworks. Develop and maintain application components and APIs using .NET Core, ASP.NET, C#, Web APIs, and microservices architectures, including APIs that expose or consume data from Dynamics 365 and SharePoint. Develop Lakehouse-based data solutions using Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), and Apache Spark/PySpark. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (business, analytics, product, and compliance teams) to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
